Privacy Policy – Poetic Codes

The short version: We collect your email only if you subscribe or submit content. We never sell data. You can request deletion at any time. Firebase stores your data securely in compliance with GDPR.

1. Who We Are

Poetic Codes is a long-form essay publication operated by Glenn Junsay Pansensoy, based in the Philippines. Contact: pansensoyglenn@gmail.com

2. Information We Collect

We only collect information you voluntarily provide:

Email address and optional name — when you subscribe to the newsletter via the subscription form on any page.
Essay submission data — your name, email, essay title, category, excerpt, and full text when you submit through the Submit page. This is used solely for editorial review and communication.
Collaboration inquiry data — your name, email, and proposal message when you submit through the Collab page.
Share Your Thoughts submissions — the name (optional) and comment you submit on the home page, stored in your browser's local storage only.

We do not collect IP addresses, browsing history, device fingerprints, or any other passive tracking data beyond what Firebase Analytics captures anonymously (see Section 4).

3. How We Use Your Information

To send you new essay notifications — newsletter subscribers only, at most once per week.
To review, correspond about, and potentially publish essay submissions.
To respond to collaboration proposals.
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties under any circumstances.

4. Firebase and Analytics

Poetic Codes uses Google Firebase for data storage (Firestore) and anonymous traffic analytics (Firebase Analytics). Firebase processes data on Google's servers and is subject to Google's privacy policies. Firebase Analytics data is aggregated and anonymised — it tells us how many people visited a page, not who visited it.

5. Data Retention

Subscriber records are retained until you unsubscribe. Submission records are retained for editorial recordkeeping purposes. You may request deletion of any data associated with your email address at any time.

6. Your Rights

Right to access: You may request a copy of all data we hold about you.
Right to deletion: You may request deletion of all your data at any time.
Right to unsubscribe: Every newsletter email contains an unsubscribe link.

7. Children's Privacy

Poetic Codes does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted data, contact us and we will delete it immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the publication grows. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
